Charles Pemberton dockets, 1797-1804.

Consists of four dockets from what was probably the Sussex County Supreme Court, dating from 1797-1804. The dockets record the caseload of the court, and were kept by Charles Pemberton, sheriff of Sussex County. The cases detailed in these dockets are primarily civil disputes between private individuals. Entries include the names of the plaintiff and defendant, the name of the lawyer representing the defendant, the judgment or settlement, the issuing date, and information about the settlement and its execution.
